Semi-final result
On August 21, France’s Cécifoot team won the semi-final against Italy 1-0 in Strasbourg. The decisive goal was scored by captain Frédéric Villeroux, two minutes after the break. Villeroux, a gold-medalist at the 2024 Paralympic Games, said: “It was hard, it was a crucial match, we couldn’t afford to lose, with pressure. I had a bit of trouble in midfield today, but the collective helped me get over the hurdle and it’s all together that we succeeded.”
Group-stage campaign
France finished the group stage without a single loss, winning 4-1 over England, 3-0 over Greece and 1-0 over Germany. Matches were played in a specially adapted stadium located at the foot of the European Parliament. The performance was noted for its patience, especially after an evenly balanced first half against Italy.
Next step: final against England
The Blues will face England, who beat Turkey 1-0 earlier that day, in the final on Sunday afternoon. The match will take place on August 23 at 4:30 p.m. in Strasbourg’s stadium. France aims to retain its European champion title and secure a second consecutive continental triumph.
